Coach Bob Gainey’s comments on Monday showed he didn’t expect an easy opener as the Springville-Griffith Institute girls basketball team began the postseason. SGI’s Rowe sets two school records at team indoor championships

Springville’s Payton Rowe set two new school indoor track records and took second overall in the 55-meter hurdles Saturday in the team championships at Houghton College. Slip down a slope at HV’s annual Penguin Paddle

Each year, people of all ages don garbage bags and slip down the slope of Yodler like penguins at the annual Penguin Paddle. The event benefits Holiday Valley’s Lounsbury Adaptive Ski Program that serves 200 and 250 disabled clients each season offering ski lessons and equipment to people with all disabilities, both physical and cognitive.

Mason Goodridge scored more than 30 points for the third consecutive game while leading the Springville-Griffith Institute varsity boys basketball team to its sixth consecutive victory on Monday. Springville (11-8) defeated Tonawanda, 74-54, as Goodridge scored 34 points with seven steals.
