Pop Warner Hall of Fame inductees announced

  The Springville Athletic Scholarship Committee has announced the three inductees into the 2019 Pop Warner Hall of Fame. They are Judy (Schunk) Langworthy, Kyle Bicknell and Coach Jim Rindfuss. Judy (Schunk) Langworthy graduated from Springville-Griffith Institute in 1985. She was a four-sport athlete, participating in tennis, volleyball, basketball and softball. SGI girls tennis sweeps Cheektowaga, Tonawanda

CHEEKTOWAGA — The Springville varsity girls tennis team (2-1) made it two in a row with a 5-0 sweep over Cheektowaga on Tuesday night. Lily Vanuga dominated first singles by winning 6-0, 6-1. Smith’s goal keeps SGI boys soccer’s perfect start (4-0) alive

SPRINGVILLE — Chris Smith score late in the second half to lift the Springville-Griffith Institute boys soccer team over Lackawanna on Monday. Smith’s goal, assisted by Jake Schrieber, gave the Griffins the only score in a 1-0 ECIC league game. Smith has scored in all four games for SGI this season and leads the team with six goals. IROQUOIS — The Springville-Griffith Institute varsity volleyball team improved to 2-0 after defeating Iroquois in four sets on Monday. The SGI girls ran a new rotation in which Jillian Roggie debuted as libero, and she led her team to a 25-21 victory in set one. On Friday, Aug. 23, the Trading Post of Springville blessed children in the community with school supplies and snack bags that were donated by volunteers, clientele, the VFW and Save-A-Lot.
