Continuing with its mission to promote sustainability, Green Springville has partnered with local electric vehicle (EV) drivers to promote National Drive Electric Week with an event in Orchard Park.

Starting Sept. 8 at 9 a.m., EV drivers will gather at the IBEW Local 41 at 3546 California Road in Orchard Park to showcase electric and hybrid vehicles. More than 20 battery and hybrid vehicles have registered, representing 10 different car models including the Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model 3.

“Battery electric vehicles have come a long way over the past couple of years,” said Reed Braman, Green Springville president. “This is a great chance to show the general public how they easily fit into anyone’s life and answer people’s questions.”

Plug In America, the Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association have organized national Drive Electric Week since its debut in 2011 as National Plug In Day. In 2018, Orchard Park’s event is one of more than 280 across the country where electric vehicle owners, government officials and community leaders are holding electric car parades, “tailpipe-free” tailgate parties, ride-and-drives, and other public events.
