It’s the most wonderful time of the year, at least for fans of Roller Derby in Western New York. The Queen City Roller Girls (QCRG) are back in action and kickoff the 2017 season with “We All Brawl” expo game at their home at Buffalo RiverWorks on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m.

The We All Brawl expo game is the annual mash-up charity event of two teams made up of skaters from across the league, where teammate vs. teammate and friend vs. foe come together as one league and face each other head-to-head (or hip-to-hip) on the track as Villians vs. Heroes.

A portion of the ticket sales and raffle/fundraisers at intermission will go to support the Superhero Alliance of WNY.  While Superhero costumes are not required to attend this game, they are highly encouraged. Tickets are available online at

Come on out to support your favorite skater!

A skater from the 2016 Cup Champion Devil Dollies perhaps? Or maybe a fresh meat off the street member of the Queen’s Court last year, who was just drafted to the Suicidal Saucies? Maybe it’s your co-worker, what’s her derby name again—who plays on the Alley Kats and on the Subzero Sirens in her spare time? And how can we forget one of those talented skaters from the Lake Effect Furies Travel Team? You know, the one who traveled to Vancouver, BC this fall to compete in the Division 1 WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association) Playoffs? The one on the team that is internationally ranked at 27 out of 318 teams across the globe!

The Queen City Roller Girls, Western New York’s premier Women’s Flat Track roller derby league consists of three home teams, two travel teams, a practice team, two junior home teams, a junior travel team, a team of skating officials, a team of non-skating officials and a handful of rogue volunteers who are members of the league.

All of the 2017 Season Home Games are played at Buffalo RiverWorks, a multi-purpose venue located at 359 Ganson Street on Buffalo’s Waterfront, the first-in-kind purpose built roller derby track in the country. In addition to roller derby, Buffalo RiverWorks houses bars, restaurants, a brewery, a concert venue, covered outdoor ice rinks, boat docks, a second-level mezzanine overlooking the track and so much more.

The Queen City Roller Girls are always looking for a few good women and men, girls and boys to come join their family of fans, friends, volunteers, skaters and anthem singers! For more information visit or email
