Springville’s Brett Russell took third in Section 6 in the indoor track and field championships on Saturday in Houghton, finishing with a time of 9:50.24.
Russell, Jared Hecht, Mike Evans and Charlie DiGangi took sixth in the 3,200 relay with a time of 8:41.78 at Houghton College.
Hecht was ninth in the 1,600 (4:41.99) and Zach Scime was ninth in the weight throw (43-feet-5-inches).
Also for the SGI boys, Charles DiGangi was 16th in the 300 (:39.97) and Nate Cudney was 21st in the 55 hurdles (:09.80).
On the girls’ side, Marinna Heichberger led Springville at sixth place in the weight throw (37-11.75). Heichberger took 11th in the shot put (31-1.75).
Janay Ghani took eighth in the 300 (:44.94) and Evelyn Smith was ninth (:45.22).
In the 800-meter relay, Springville’s team of Sonya Krezmien, Sydney Wittmer, Evelyn Smith and Emily Schlemmer were ninth (1:58.22).
The 1,600 relay (Jaime Dickenson, Krezmien, Smith, Schlemmer) was 10th with a season-best time of 4:30.95.
Ghani also had a personal record in the 55 (:07.81). Schlemmer was 14th in the 55 hurdles (:09.81).
Dickenson was 18th in the 600 (1:57.27), while Krezmien recorded a 3:26.32 in the 1,000.
