Springville-Griffith Institute only brought two runners to the Clarence Fall Classic cross country meet, but both finished in the top 18 out of a field of 150 large and small-school competitors.

Leading the way was junior Brett Russell, who finished ninth overall in the 5,000-meter race and second in the small-school division, behind only Cardinal O’Hara senior Tom Appenheimer. Russell clocked in at 17:14.7.

Fellow junior Jared Hecht finished 18th overall at 17:45.6.
