Hinsdale Horseradish Festival June 3
Not only will you find everything horseradish, you’ll find vendors with wine, craft beer, pottery, handmade jewelry, furniture, handmade soaps, country crafts, candles, paintings and more! The festival will be held June 3, 2017, at the Hinsdale Memorial Park, at 1547 Gile Hollow Road in the Town of Hinsdale. The venue is ideal— the park is located only one-half mile south of I-86, directly off of Route 16. It’s an easy drive from anywhere in western New York or northern Pennsylvania.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this festival, you may ask “Why a Horseradish Festival? Why Hinsdale”? Well, Cuba has their Garlic Festival, Franklinville has their Maple Festival, Bradford has their Stink Fest and Olean – well there is always something going on in Olean (except for that 1st weekend in June)… and we wanted Hinsdale to be remembered for something. Besides, in the early 1900’s, horseradish really was a “hot commodity” in Hinsdale. Maude Bell and her family grew horseradish right here along the banks of the Ischua Creek and hauled it by horse and buggy to the market in Olean.
Here is the schedule:
Saturday, June 3, 11 a.m.-1pm: TBA
1:30-4:30pm: Diggin Roots Band (All WNY Music Award-won second place in the Best Blues Band/Act category)
5:30-8pm: Nick Kody and the Creek Road Band
Vendor applications have been mailed and can also be downloaded and printed from our vendor page. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first-served basis.
