With our area deep in the heart of winter itself, it’s an appropriate time to examine how soldiers more than 150 years ago dealt with winter conditions during the Civil War.

Tom Place, curator of the Echoes Through Time Learning Center, will present “Winter and the Civil War” on Jan. 29 at the Lucy Bensley Center in Springville. The presentation will include first-hand accounts of how winter impacted the war and those who fought in it through primary sources, including soldiers’ letters.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. and is part of a monthly series hosted by Echoes Through Time in conjunction with the Lucy Bensley Center, with presentations held the last Wednesday of each month.

Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend. Donations will be accepted for the American Battlefield Trust. Light refreshments will be served.

The Lucy Bensley Center is located at 23 North Buffalo St. in Springville.
