The Springville Sustainability Initiative (SSI) held its inaugural meeting on August 16th.  This new non-profit organization is designed to facilitate sustainability projects in the Springville area and promote green initiatives.

“I was really pleased with the enthusiasm and creativity from those that attended.” noted Co-founder Reed Braman, “I’m looking forward to hearing more from the community.”

The group discussed potential projects such as a public children’s garden, solar energy, recreational trails, sustainable agriculture, and rain barrel distribution.

SSI will be holding the next meeting, open to the public, on August 30th at 7pm at the Encorus building (23 Mechanic St).  Anyone interested should attend or contact Reed Braman at

Springville Sustainability Initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to making Springville a sustainable place to live, work, shop and play.  SSI focuses on projects that promote sustainable energy, environmental development, recreational facilities and economic opportunities.
