The Springville Players and Springville Center for the Arts are bringing “On Golden Pond” to the Mongerson stage Feb. 27 through 15.
A 1979 play by Ernest Thompson, the story focuses on aging couple Ethel and Norman Thayer, who spend each summer at their home on a lake called Golden Pond.
During the year the story takes place, they are visited by daughter Chelsea with her fiancé Billy Ray and his son Billy Ray Jr.
The play explores the often turbulent relationship the young woman shared with her father growing up, and the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage.
The cast includes Mike Sharrer as Norman Thayer, Mary Sion as Ethel Thayer, Kelly Gram as Chelsea Thayer Wayne, Rick Manzone as Bill Ray, Justin Simmons as Billy Ray and Keith Cordaro as Charlie Martin. The play is directed by Trish Maxwell.
Opening night, Thursday, Feb. 27 is “Pay what you Can with a Can” night. Patrons can donate a non-perishable food item and any donation for admittance. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m shows Feb. 27-29 and March 12-14 and at 2 p.m. on March 1 and 15.
