Learn the basic steps to crochet (single crochet) in an upcoming workshop at Springville Center for the Arts. Kaela Jacobs is offering two sessions on Oct. 26 and Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Jacobs learned how to make tatted lace when she was a teenager after finding a bag of tatting thread and shuttles at the Springville Auction. Resources on the internet inspired her to pursue this fun and unusual art and helped her connect with other tatters. She also crochets and knits. She maintains a blog to showcase her work: www.straightlacedtatting.blogspot.com.

The first class is ideal for students with limited to no experience. The second session is a follow-up for those same students or anyone who already has a basic understanding of crochet. Students can bring their own supplies or borrow supplies from the instructor.

Register online at SpringvilleArts.org or by calling 716-592-9038 to register by phone. Each session is $20.
