Springville Center for the Arts is presenting an exhibition by local artists titled “Natural Selections: Landscape Paintings by Judson Brown and Charles Houseman.” Brown and Houseman are both landscape painters whose travels and works cover landscapes throughout Western New York, the Northeast, and National Parks in the West.
The public can meet the artists at a free opening reception on Oct. 26 from 6:30-8 p.m. The exhibit will be on display in the Harold L. Olmsted Gallery through Nov. 23. The gallery is located inside SCA at 37 N. Buffalo St., Springville. Both Houseman and Brown will be offering one-day painting workshops in November.
Houseman will lead a workshop titled “Perfect Pairs – Changing the Setting of a Scene” which will take place on Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students will create two small paintings of the same scene in different settings.
Brown will lead a workshop titled “Landscape Composition” where he will cover the fundamentals of composition for artists of all skill levels to improve their paintings. The workshop takes place on Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Students must pre-register for either workshop. More information and online registration can be found at SpringvilleArts.org or by calling 592-9038.
