Are you a watercolor extraordinaire looking for a new technique? Have you ever wanted to discover new and unique ways to use paper? Look no further because Springville Center for the Arts is offering two adult workshops this summer.
The first being offered is Botanical Watercolors with instructor Bernadette Keleher. Botanical Illustration, a European watercolor technique that uses hot press paper instead of cold, will be the focus in this class. The techniques taught will help with other watercolor techniques the artist has previously acquired. Participants will come out with their own painting by the end of the three classes. Please bring a live plant or flower to use as your model. It is preferred that the plant or flower is planted. (It works better and lasts longer than cut flowers or plants.) Botanical Watercolors will be held from Tuesday, June 27 through Thursday, June 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. This class is $40 per person or $35 if you are an Arts Center member. Participants will need to purchase Hot Press paper from the instructor as well. Some watercolor background is suggested.
The second workshop is Paper Exploration. Paper Exploration is exactly what it sounds like! Deb Eck, the instructor, uses her preferred medium – paper – with various techniques to create various forms art. Each class has its own unique theme, meaning you will be taking home your work of art after each class. Paper Exploration will be held every Wednesday in July: 5, 12, 19, and 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. This class is $45 per person or $40 if you are an Arts Center member. All skill levels welcome. All materials are provided. For more information on Deb Eck and paper exploration, visit her website at www.DebraEck.com.
Both workshops will be held in the Vacanti Classroom at Springville Center for the Arts located at 37 North Buffalo Street, Springville.
