U14/12/10 athletes gathered from Western New York and Southern Central New York to compete in the 2018 Kandahar Festival on March 10 and 11 at HoliMont in Ellicottville. Day One was a Kombi, which is a blend of Giant Slalom and Slalom. Day Two was a Giant Slalom.

Day One:

U14 Boys: Jack Kreuzer (KB), fourth; and Kellen Gradwell (BSC), ninth.

U12 Boys: Garrett Goetz (KB) earned gold, continuing his season of dominance. Hannes Aubrecht (BSC), sixth; Drew Foley (KB), 25th; and Gareth Duckham (BSC), 32nd.

U12 Girls: Emily Kloc (BSC), 11th; and Lilian Rauch (BSC), 14th.

U10 Boys: Owen Gray (BSC), ninth; and Wyatt Van Tine (KB), 17th.

U10 Girls: Mary Doyle (BSC), fifth; and Abigail Duff (KB), ninth.

Day Two:

U14 Boys: Samuel Foley (KB) earned the bronze; Jack Kreuzer (KB), ninth; and Kellen Gradwell (BSC) ,11th.

U12 Boys: Garrett Goetz (KB) again took the top spot and gold medal. Hannes Aubrect (BSC), ninth; Drew Foley (KB), 23rd; Joey Hogenkamp (KB), 28th; and Gareth Duckham (BSC), 32nd.

U12 Girls: Lilian Rauch (BSC), 11th.

U10 Boys: Owen Gray (BSC), 11th; Rainer Aubrecht (BSC), 19th; Wyatt Van Tine (KB), 20th; and Declan Gradwell (BSC), 23rd.

U10 Girls: Mary Doyle (BSC), sixth; Abigail Duff (KB), 10th; and Katie Johnson (KB), 13th.

From this race, athletes qualified to Kandahar Champs at Toggenburg Mountain in Fabius, N.Y. The following athletes qualified: Samuel Foley, Jack Kreuzer, Garrett Goetz, Hannes Aubrecht and Emily Kloc.

Kandahar Champs were held March 17 and 18 and consisted of a skills/training day and one day of racing. The first run was a Giant Slalom and the second was Kombi. Overall results include:

U14 Boys: Samuel Foley (KB), earned bronze medal; and teammate Jack Kreuzer finished 5th.

U12 Boys: Garrett Goetz (KB) once again found himself on the podium with a third place finish; and Hannes Aubrecht (BSC) took 33rd.

U12 Girls: Emily Kloc (BSC), 26th.

Hannah Goetz of Kissing Bridge traveled back up to U14 Eastern Championships at Whiteface Mountain. Of the three days of competition, Goetz found herself in fourth place for the Giant Slalom, which earned her another trip to Can-Am’s to be held at Mont Tremblant in Quebec.

Grace Graney of Kissing Bridge and Joshua Jusiak of Buffalo Ski Club traveled to Stowe, Vt., for U16 Eastern Championships at Stowe Mountain. This series was comprised of two Slaloms, two Super-G’s and one Giant Slalom. Graney finished 39th and 26th in the Super-G’s. Jusiak took 48th in one slalom, 50th in the Giant Slalom and 76th in one of the Super-G’s.

Congrats to these athletes for going so far in their season! They got to compete against the best U16s on the East Coast.
