On June 26, the Boy & Girls Club of Springville will hold their 15th Annual Horschel Brothers Golf Classic Tournament at the Springville Country Club.

This year’s tournament will feature a few new upgrades and be “new and improved” said Boys & Girls Club of Springville Board President, Jim Howe.  Howe explained that the Golf Classic Committee, headed by Eric Lawton and Ashley Kerr, has been hard at work through the winter months to ensure this year’s event will be better than ever.

Highlights this year include:

The Dixon Challenge!  Dixon Golf will be in attendance with their environmentally-friendly golf balls. Dixon Golf is the world’s only manufacturer of a high performance, eco-friendly family of golf balls.  Born from a desire to limit its impact on the environment, from core to cover, from packaging to production, Dixon golf is setting a new standard in environmental consciousness.  Dixon Golf believes in being socially responsible and has donated more than $1,000,000 to charities nationwide since 2012.  During the tournament, a representative from Dixon Golf will be on hand conducting the “Dixon Challenge.” As each group of golfers arrives to the Dixon Challenge Tee, the rep will provide them with a free Dixon Earth golf ball and then challenge them to try their golf ball against the eco-friendly Dixon Earth ball. Just for participating, they will receive more than $150 worth of products and certificates from Dixon and their partners, as well as be entered into a drawing to win a free golf simulator ($27,000 value). Cost to play the Challenge is $10. Each golfer who accepts the challenge will be awarded one extra shot. Should either shot land on the green, they will receive one sleeve of Dixon Earth golf balls ($10 value).

Amazing lunch!   Rather than the pizza and hot dogs most tournaments offer their golfers for lunch, we have partnered up with Anderson’s Food Truck to be in the parking lot for lunch.  Anderson’s will be serving up their famous roast beef sandwich for all tournament golfers.

Live music!  During the cocktail and appetizer hour outside on the deck, golfers and their guests will be serenaded by the ever so talented JT & Jon Law, singing some of your old favorites and newer ones too.  Singing along is greatly encouraged as long as you are singing the same song as the band.

A delicious dinner!   Prepared for golfers and their guests by none other than Chef Kirk Van Wagner, former chef and owner of Curley’s in Lackawanna, this will be a feast to talk about for some time.

Lots of prizes!  The tournament will feature all the normal activities and contests: beverages on the course, 50/50, and auctions.  Skills contest consisting of: Longest Drive Contest for both men and women; Closest to the Pin Contest for both men and women; Hole in One contest at 3 holes where golfers can win cash, golf clubs & more; Hole in One contest to win a new car-not a lease, you will own the car!
