Tim & Bonnie’s Pizza has opened a third location at 17 E. Main St. in the village of Gowanda. The popular pizzeria is now open in three convenient locations with the other two in Springville and Ellicottville.
The string of pizzerias is owned by Tim and Bonnie Garey of Springville. Their daughter, Tiffany Frentz, who manages the Ellicottville location, will also manage the Gowanda location along with Anthony Procacci of Hinsdale.
According to Frentz, the new location opened Oct. 23. She said opening a third location was an idea her family has been toying around with for a while. Then, the opportunity arose when the building in the former business space of Red’s Drive-In Restaurant was for sale.
They also knew the previous business owner who was hoping they’d come and look at his building and like it, but they weren’t really sure at that point. But then, her family was approached by Procacci, who is now their partner.
“Tony approached us about possibly opening the new location with him, and it just worked out that all the chips fell perfectly,” she said. “At one point, he owned a pizzeria but got out the business, then realized he missed it. It’s a hard business to walk away from — this pizza world.”
Frentz said Procacci knew they were interested in opening another pizzeria at this location because they used the same food supplier who kind of put “the bug in their ears.”
“The menu is pretty much the same, but we have a limited fish fry menu because the kitchen in Gowanda is a lot smaller than the kitchens at our other two locations,” she said. “Because of the smaller kitchen, we are not able to offer all the sides and options we’d like. Other than that, the menu is pretty identical.”
Although the Gareys have two pizzeria/bowling alley combo businesses in Springville and Ellicottville, the new location in Gowanda does not have a bowling alley.
The couple opened their Springville business nearly a decade ago where they have a 12-lane bowling alley attached to their pizzeria. In November 2012, they opened a second business in EVL Square at Bristol Lane in Ellicottville that also has a bowling alley attached. Frentz said all three locations have 20 to 25 employees.
The Gareys really know the pizza business and have been at it for a long time. Frentz said the family has been in the pizza business probably about 40 years, if not longer, because her father has been making pizza since about the age of 14.
As a thank you to their many loyal customers, Frentz said they offer “Free Pizza Friday” on their Facebook page where patrons have a chance to win a free large pizza. She said it’s very popular with their customers and she posts it every Friday morning. People who “like” the post are randomly selected to be a winner at 4 p.m. to receive a free pizza.
Tim & Bonnie’s Pizza offers dine-in, delivery and take-out. Frentz said they get crazy busy at the Gowanda pizzeria because they offer free delivery there.
