After more than two months of construction, the newly renovated Joylan Theater re-opened for the public on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

With a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Pastor Keith Clark and the Springville Crossing Church, Watermark Wesleyan site, which owns the building, rang in a new era for the updated and remodeled theater on West Main Street in Springville.
“We’ve been on this journey of renovating and remodeling the theater,” Clark said. “It’s been through many, many volunteer hours and help and great professional help.”

Clark said he grew up in Springville and went on his first date at the Joylan Theater, so seeing its legacy continue is “near and dear to my heart.”

In conjunction with the renovations, the Joylan Theater is celebrating its 70th anniversary in the Springville community this fall.

“We’re here to celebrate that, the changes and the updates of the theater,” he said. “I’m just looking forward to carrying this into the future and the next 70 years as a community together.”

Joining in on the ribbon-cutting ceremony were the multi-site pastor and executive pastor from Watermark Wesleyan, the current elder team from Springville Crossing Church, Springville Mayor Bill Krebs, Concord Town Supervisor Clyde Drake and Town Councilman Phil Drozd.

The evening’s festivities included an open house of the theater with refreshments and snacks followed by the first movie showing in the new theater, the Halloween classic “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”
