Modified Girls Soccer

After falling to two powerhouse teams of East Aurora and Pioneer, the Springville girls modified soccer team rebounded in a great way against Maryvale on Wednesday, Sept. 25.  Not only did they earn the first goal oftheir season, but they also earned the first four and a shutout to boot.

Keeping impressive in net was Andreya Hitchcock who had a relatively quiet night through the constant work of the defense provided by Kellie Phair, Kaitlin Hender, and Sarah Sullivan among others.

Scoring the goals for the Griffins were McKayla Ruhland, Lauren Smith, Ella Uhteg and Eve Uhteg. Uhteg also provided two assists while crossing the ball in front of the net creating excellent opportunities for both

Ruhland and Smith. Uhteg and Uhteg’s goals came through tremendous individual work in the midfield area to win the ball and drive to the net, coach Ryan Dygert noted.

“With almost half of the 16 girls being new to the sport, it has been impressive to see their growth and improvement as they continue through their schedule.”
