A stage production of “Little Women,” presented by The Springville Players and Springville Center for the Arts, began rehearsals Sept. 9.

The stage was constructed prior to the first rehearsal. “Little Women,” written by Louisa May Alcott, tells the story of the March sisters’ journey starting from their childhood to adulthood and the problems they face along the way.

Of the four sisters, Meg, the eldest, is played by Grace Harvey. Jo, the tomboy, is played by Alyssa Uebel. Amy, the youngest, but beautiful and self-centered, is played by Alexandrea Simmons. Finally, Beth, sweet, gentle, and kind, is played by Margaret Boyle.

The girls are joined on stage with their Marmee, played by Andrea Simmons, the grouchy Aunt March, played by Marilyn Heary, and the strapping young man, Laurie, played by Trevor Krawczyk. Laurie’s tutor and “sidekick” is played by Justin Simmons.

The cast consists of many talented people, young and old, who are putting in the time and effort to have a great performance.

“Little Women” is being directed by Edwin Heary and co-directed by Rick Manzone. Costume designer and producer, Ruthie Consiglio, is looking for volunteers who are skilled at sewing to help with alterations on the costumes.

If you are interested in assisting with this production, contact the Springville Center for the Arts at 592-9038.

Performances take place on Nov. 14, 15, 19, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 19 and 22 at 2 p.m.

Tickets will be available to purchase at www.springvillearts.org.
