Albion rolls to 2-0 with 50-8 win over SGI

A late 64-yard passing touchdown was all the scoring the Springville-Griffith Institute varsity football team could muster in its Week 2 trip to Albion.

Albion (2-0) defeated Springville, 50-8, in a Section 6 Class B-3 game on Friday, Sept. 13. SGI got on the board in the fourth quarter as quarterback Nick Emmick completed a pass to Cole Baker for a 64-yard touchdown.

In total, Emmick had 101 yards on 4-for-13 passing with a touchdown and an interception. Alex Elkins had two catches for 37 yards. Eric Garlock led the Griffins’ rushing attack with 40 yards on five carries. Baker and AJ Slippy had 30 rushing yards each

Garlock and David Thompson had five tackles each to lead the SGI defense and Devin Hitchcock and Slippy added four tackles each.

Lackawanna (2-0) visits Pop Warner Field this Friday, Sept. 20, to play the Griffins in another B-3 matchup for Springville’s Homecoming game.
