Smith’s goal keeps SGI boys soccer’s perfect start (4-0) alive

SPRINGVILLE — Chris Smith score late in the second half to lift the Springville-Griffith Institute boys soccer team over Lackawanna on Monday.
Smith’s goal, assisted by Jake Schrieber, gave the Griffins the only score in a 1-0 ECIC league game. Smith has scored in all four games for SGI this season and leads the team with six goals.
Next up for the Griffins and their perfect record is a road game on Thursday (6 p.m.), taking their perfect record (4-0, 2-0) on the line against Holland. SGI begins a four-game home stand on Saturday, playing North Collins at 10 a.m.

SPRINGVILLE — Chris Smith scored twice and added an assist to pace SGI on Thursday, Sept. 5.
Cameron Denny and Garon Holland added a goal each and Austin Walker had two assists. Charley Digangi also marked an assist.

Springville 2, Tonawanda 0
TONAWANDA — Chris Smith and Jake Schrieber scored in the second half to lift Springville on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Andrew Fisher had an assist on the first goal, in the 60th minute.

SPRINGVILLE — Hannah Goetz’ overtime goal delivered the first win of the season for Springville (1-2). Jackie Roggie assisted on the winning goal, 15 minutes into overtime.
Nyah Solly scored a goal late in regulation — the 37th minute of the second half — to tie Holland and force overtime. Goalie Logan Lukert made six saves for SGI.
For Holland (1-3), Kaylin Kline scored in the first half on a Myla Kline assist and Amber Hornquist made 15 saves.

Alden 2, Springville 1
SPRINGVILLE — Nyah Solly scored the lone goal for Springville in the second half as the Griffins fell to 0-2.
SGI goalie Logan Lukert made three saves. For Alden, Shannon Wypij and Alyssa Attardo scored goals and Alexis Grassel made eight saves.
