SGI girls tennis sweeps Cheektowaga, Tonawanda

CHEEKTOWAGA — The Springville varsity girls tennis team (2-1) made it two in a row with a 5-0 sweep over Cheektowaga on Tuesday night.
Lily Vanuga dominated first singles by winning 6-0, 6-1. In second singles, Haylee Cerrone won 6-0, 6-2 and Maria Rumfola took care of her opponent in straight sets winning 6-0, 6-0 in third singles.
The first doubles team of Grace Terhune and Elle Schosek held on in a tight first set before pulling away 7-5, 6-2. To complete the sweep Julie Bartoszek and Ava Dziak won their match 6-4, 6-4.

Springville 5, Tonawanda 0
TONAWANDA — Springville rebounded from its first loss of the season with a sweep on Monday.
The Warriors had to forfeit both first and second doubles, so the Lady Griffs already started out with a 2-0 advantage. Sealing the victory was Haylee Cerrone as she scored her first career singles win, 8-0, in a pro set. Lily Vanuga and Maria Rumfola also won second and third singles, respectively, both by 8-0 scores. In exhibition action, Grace Terhune won 6-2 and then teamed with Elle Schosek for a win in doubles, 6-2. In other action Ava Dziak won her singles match 6-2 and Julie Bartoszek won her match, 7-5.

Iroquois 4, Springville 1
SPRINGVILLE — Ava Dziak and Julie Bartoszek delivered the lone point for Springville in its season opener on Tuesday, Sept. 4, with a 6-1, 6-0 win at second doubles.
