The Springville Lions Club has been servicing the Springville and surrounding areas for over 70 years, providing eyeglasses, hearing aids, holiday meals for the shut-ins, scholarships, items from their loan closet and donations to various local charities just to mention a few.
Twenty-five years ago when Lions International was celebrating their 75th anniversary, International asked each Lions Club to do a service project to showcase the Lions existence in the communities they serve.
Past District Governor James P. Jozwiak, project chairman and owner of Christian General Contractors, supplied the labor and the Springville Lions supplied the materials to have a “Flower Box Sign” structure built at the front of the Springville Volunteer Fire Company building.
Now 25 years later, Lions International celebrated their 100-year anniversary and once again asked the worldwide Lions Clubs to create a visible project to promote their local Lions Club in their community.
Jozwiak answered the call to refurbish the existing sign structure. With the help of Lions Mike Cochran, Jim Jozwiak, Shane Jozwiak, Jerry Grasso and Dolf Bonenberger, they removed the old roofing, installed new architectural roofing, power washed the structure and stained and sealed the structure.
The Springville Lions Club is dedicated to continue to serve our community. They invite anyone interested in being part of the active Lions Club to join. There are different levels of membership, and some are not required to attend each meeting. They are asked to be involved in community projects when possible.
For regular membership, meetings are the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from September to June.
If your 18 or older, male or female, you’re welcome you to join. Call James Jozwiak at 998-2501 for more information.
