Canal Street String Band to perform at next Thursdays, Downton

With three voices, 55 strings and a pair of cow bones, the Canal Street String Band puts a brand-new shine on some seriously fun old American music.
They will be featured June 20 at 6:30 p.m. as part of the Thursdays. Downtown concert series at Heritage Park.
Dave Ruch, Phil Banaszak and Jim Whitford play fiddle tunes, sea shanties, cowboy songs, canal ditties, mountain music and more with banjo, fiddle, twin mandolins, string bass, dobro, guitar, octave mandolin, assorted “pocket” instruments and three-part harmonies.
Free art activities will continue with the “Spark in the Park” tent. Opening music will be performed by students from the music studio of Lauri Skelton.
O’Brien’s food truck will serve smoked meats and farm fresh foods. A small farmer’s market will be set up with beef and maple from Kwilos Farms, fresh produce and hemp products from Farm and Peace and eggs and produce from Crown Hill Farm.
Thursdays, Downtown is a partnership between the town of Concord, village of Springville and Springville Center for the Arts. Heritage Park is located on Factory Street behind the old fire hall on Franklin Street. Main acts begin at 6:30 p.m.
The park is handicap accessible and bathroom facilities are available. In the event of rain, the concert may be moved to the Mongerson Theater at Springville Center for the Arts, 37 North Buffalo St.
