Letter to the Editor: Pageant of Bands thankful for community support

Editor,

The Pageant of Bands committee is thankful for the generous support provided the Springville community for the 57th annual Pageant of Bands held in May. This year’s pageant included jazz ensemble, concert band, color guard, percussion and parade competitions with 18 different schools visiting our village.
The Springville Pageant is one of New York State’s longest running band pageants. Generous community support is an integral facet of the pageant and has allowed it to continue for all these years. The pageant continues to offer students the opportunity to visit our school and village and interact with students from other districts while listening to and enjoying each other’s musical talent. The combined efforts of the Springville-Griffith Institute music department with Mr. Joe Gervase at the baton, the SGI High School music students who help coordinate much of the event, service organizations such as Kiwanis and dedicated community support and sponsors all come together to allow this musical event to continue.
Our sincere appreciation goes out to this year’s trophy sponsors: 49 Coffee House and Eatery, Concord Land Realty, Dilly Dallies Spices and Sauces, Julie’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, Main Street Pizzeria and Café, Metro Kirsch Real Estate, Scott G. Nachbar – DVM, Sheret Jewelers, Slippy’s Collision, Springville Animal Hospital, Springville Eye Care, Springville Hardware, Springville Pediatrics, Tim’s Auto, Wendel’s Poultry Farm and Witter-Davis Furniture Company.
The following area organizations, businesses and individuals also provided support: Emerling Dealerships provided cars for the dignitaries and together with Slippy’s Collision provided the vehicles for the parade judging platform. Ms. Suzanne Manchester, Barry Decker and Lowell Rothenberger of Corvettes of Buffalo helped provide the beautiful cars used for transporting pageant dignitaries and the band queens during the parade. We appreciate all the drivers who volunteer their time and vehicles for this event. Flowers for the band queens were donated by S&N/Eileens. Kevin Taylor of Taylor’s Generation X Sign Shop donated the beautiful signs for each of the queen’s cars. The village of Springville and the Springville Police and Springville Fire departments play a huge role in controlling traffic and keeping us safe on the parade route.
It truly takes a village of support to continue the Springville Pageant of Bands as a unique tradition of our community. Visit our “Springville Pageant of Bands” Facebook page during the year and plan to visit us again next year in May 2020 for the 58th annual pageant!
