Rowe paces SGI girls to Jamestown Invitational title

Led by two individual victories from Payton Rowe and one from Hannah Goetz, the Springville-Griffith Institute girls track and field team won the Jamestown Invitational on Saturday.
With 168 points, Springville defeated Southwestern (150) by 18 for the team title.
Rowe won the 100-meter hurdles (:16.60) and 400 hurdles (1:07.84). Goetz won the 2,000 steeplechase with a season-best time of 8:03.40.
Nyah Solly had two second-place finishes in the long jump (15-feet-11-inches) and triple jump (32-7) and a third in the pole vault (8-6).
The Springville 400-meter relay team (Rowe, Evelyn Smith, Solly, Chloe Chamberlin) took first with a season-best :52.69. The 1,600 relay (Smith, Jaime Dickinson, Goetz, Rowe) also took first (4:20.18).
Chamberlin was fourth in the 100 (:13.23) and fifth in the 200 (:27.73). Marinna Heichberger was fourth in the shot put (29-10 ¼) and eighth in the discus (85-11). Emily Schlemmer took fifth in the 400 (1:13.46).
Smith was seventh in the 200 (:28.40), Dickinson seventh in the 400 (1:06.0) and Sonya Krezmien seventh in the 2,000 steeplechase (8:59.86). Alyssa Greaves was ninth in the triple jump (29-8).
The Springville boys, meanwhile, finished sixth out of 18 teams. Masin Field had a pair of second-place jumps, recording a 20-5.5 long jump and 40-4.5 triple jump  and also ran to seventh place in the 100 (:11.8).
Brett Russell finished second in the 3,200-meter (two-mile) run, clocking in at 10:13.79. Mike Evans, meanwhile, took third in the 3,000 steeplechase (11:37.36).
Jared Hecht ran a personal record 4:45.04 for fourth in the 1,600. Zach Peterman was eighth (5:00.41).
Andrew Delasandro was ninth in the 110 hurdles (:18.07). Jackson Richert was ninth in the triple jump (36-5.25).
The 3,200 relay team of Hecht, Peterson, Evans and Casey Waterman took sixth (9:26.43).
