The Springville-Griffith Institute varsity girls basketball team dropped a hard-fought game to Eden on Monday night, 42-32.

Ivette Lewandowski scored a team-high 12 points and Grace Zabawa chipped in 11 points.

Despite playing a strong defensive game to keep Eden in check, free-throw shooting helped snap the Lady Griffs’ seven-game win streak as Springville shot 12-for-29.

“Kelsey Zabawa was a beast on the glass as she rebounded extremely well on both ends of the floor,” coach Bob Gainey said.

The SGI girls (8-2) hope to build on their effort on Thursday night, when they play host to the Alden Bulldogs. The girls are now 8-2 overall.
