In their final meeting of 2018, the Village of Springville Board of Trustees welcomed some of the newly elected Springville Fire Department Line Officers in to take their oaths of office for the upcoming term.
Marc Gentner was named chief with Dennis Dains as first assistant chief, Bob Schuler as third assistant and Cheryl Genter 9-4 EMS.
Outgoing Chief David Klenk thanked the board for allowing him to serve the village for two years.

“It’s been a really good run,” he said. “I want to say thank you for working with me and also for all the things I’ve learned working at the village.

Klenk said he stepped down from the position due to personal reasons.

IN OTHER BUSINESS, the village board agreed to reduce the scope of a public arts project for Heritage Park after tabling the motion to accept a grant at the previous meeting.

Although the village applied for $5,000 in funding for three sculptures, it received $1,720 in grant funding from the Arts Services Initiative. The grant would have covered less than 20 percent of the expected $10,000 project for three sculptures.

Following a reduction in the grant funding it received, the village decided to only install one sculpture, expected to cost $3,250.

“Since we’re approving this, I think we should initiate and begin the arts committee we have,” Krebs said. “When the final design comes in, it should go through that.”

The next regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Building.
