SGI boys swimmers start the year 2-0

 

DEPEW — On Tuesday, Dec. 4, the Springville-Griffith Institute varsity boys swimming and diving team traveled to Depew looking to build its record to 2-0. After winning 11 of the 12 events, it was a certain victory for the Griffins who took the final score of 118-54.
Winning two individuals for the Griffins were Austin Yetter and Zach Hughey. Yetter won the 100 butterfly and the 200 freestyle, while Hughey took the victories in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle. Also winning events for the Griffins were Jon Boberg (200 IM), Blaze Schelble (50 freestyle), Wyatt Fuller (diving) and Eric Schweickert (500 Freestyle).
The Griffins saw numerous season and lifetime bests be performed by those winners and also from Justin Buczek, Nicco Zucckegna, Thad Defrain, Mike Huber, Dakota Schelble, Sam Ploetz and Jackson Richert.
The Griffins look to move to 3-0 on Friday, Dec. 7, at Holland.
