On Tuesday, the Varsity boys headed to Holland. The very evenly-matched game was tied at zero at the end of regulation play, sending it into double overtime as darkness fell. After the two OT periods, the game remained scoreless.

Also on Tuesday, the Springville boys JV soccer team improved their record to 4-0-0 with a 3-1 victory at North Collins on a steamy opening day of school.

It was a very hot day and there were extra water breaks given midway through each half for the players’ safety.  Springville got the scoring started about eight minutes into the contest when Zach Hughey sent a low shot to the left of the North Collins goalkeeper and into the net.  The lead was short-lived however as 30 seconds later the Griffins gave up their first goal of the season and North Collins tied the score at 1-1.

About five minutes after the first-half water break, Grant Karb let a long shot go and connected to give the Griffin’s the lead 2-1 at halftime.

The second half saw many more chances for both teams, but the only goal was by freshman Grant Karb- his second of the game, and fifth of the season.  Austin Boies made several good saves in goal to preserve the Springville victory.

On Friday, both teams take on Alden.
