As we head into the home stretch of summer, why not make it a point to do something fun outside this weekend?

Beach Party at Allegany State Park
On Friday, Aug. 17, head to ASP’s recently-reopened Red House Beach for their annual Beach Party. Featuring music by Jillian Eliza and headliner Marshmellow Overcoat, the party also includes food, fun and fireworks. For more info, check out the article on page 10.
Summer Night Hike and Campfire at Beaver Meadow Audubon Center
On Saturday, Aug. 18, head to North Java to make s’mores by a campfire and then head out on a sunset night hike. Beavers, owls, bats, raccoons, and nighthawks will all be out and about getting ready for fall! Pre-registration is required. Please call (585) 457-3228 to register.
Country Gatherings Festival
Also, on Aug. 18, head to the outdoor-themed festival on the property of Granny’s Boot Antiques home of Grevpode Gallery, at 10761 Miller Road in Springville. The festival will have garden exhibits, outdoor demonstrations and artisans. For more info, visit www.tmemfestivals.com.
Griffis Sculpture Park Summer Festival
On Sunday Aug. 19, music and art await at the sixth annual Griffis Sculpture Park Summer Festival! Held from 2 to 7 p.m., this festival will celebrate a day of creativity. Headlining the festival is the Americana/folk band Driftwood from Binghamton. Driftwood has been described as “a band with a rock n’ roll soul and a folk art mind.”
Additional performers include The Probables (roots rock from former Big Leg Emma members), Sly Boots Circus (African drum & dance group), Kaleidoscope Sky (reggae and rock) and poet, Autumn Echo.
Admission is $20 advance and $25 day of show for adults with 12 and under are admitted free. Gates open at noon. Tickets can be purchased online by searching “Griffis Sculpture Park” on Eventbrite.com.
