Last week Thursday, the U16 girls Avalanche traveled to Orchard Park. A very physical game ended in a big 1-0 win for the girls, with Shelby Stisser scoring the goal off a free kick by Rachel Stressinger late in the game. All the girls played a great game, with personal best playing by Destiny Lightcap and Maddie Schwanekamp. Logan Lukert earned her second consecutive shutout in net. The girls now have a regular season record of 1-0-1.

After many early season reschedules, the girls finally play at home on Thursday, June 21 when they take on Niagara Wheatfield on the JV soccer field behind SES. Game time is 6:45 p.m.—come cheer them on!

Also last Thursday, the U16 boys Griffins took on the West Seneca Chargers on their home field. Although Springville seemed to dominate the game, they came away with a 1-1 tie, with the goal being put in by Andrew Fisher. The boys’ regular season record now sits at 2-1-1.

On Thursday, June 21, the boys travel to Grand Island.

On Monday, June 18, the U14 girls Wildcats faced off against Delaware City at home, looking for their first regular season win. With half the team running late on their return from the Niagara Falls field trip, the opposing coach made the controversial decision to play with a three-person advantage, and the score quickly got to 8-0. By the time the 7th grade girls finally arrived at the field, the thunderstorms set in, and the team got about one minute in with their full 11 before the game was called.

Next week, the girls head to Hamburg.

Also on Monday, the U12 boys Griffins traveled to Lake Shore and were not able to get in a game due to the weather. Up next, they face Amherst on June 25.
