Summer Camp Guide: SPORTS CAMPS

As the countdown to summer vacation begins, ‘tis the season for parents to think about how their kids will be filling those long summer days. For many, various camps offer a worthwhile way for kids to explore their interests. This week, check out some local places that offer camps for the sports enthusiasts in your life.

SYI offers a variety of camps covering a range of sports.

Golf Camp is held at Concord Crest Golf Course at 12121 Sharp St. in East Concord, on the following dates:

• Camp 1: July 9 – July 12, 9 – 11:30 a.m.

Camp 2: July 9 – July 12, 1 – 3:30 p.m.

• Camp 3: July 23 – July 26, 9 – 11:30 a.m.

• Camp 4: July 23 – July 26, 1- 3:30 p.m.

• Camp 5:  July 23 – July 26, 6 – 8:30 (excludes day pass)

Fee:  $40 for Camp or $70 for all day (lunch not included)

• Basketball Camp is held at SYI Park, at 79 South Buffalo St. in Springville, July 23-27, from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $25. For more info, call 816-6297.

• Tennis Camp is held on the SGI high school tennis courts, July 30-Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $25. For more info, call 816-6297.

• Soccer Camp will be held at the middle school soccer fields July 16-20, from 10 a.m. to noon. This camp, for ages 8 and up, costs $25. For more info, call 289-6364.

• Volleyball Camp will be held at SYI Park at 79 South Buffalo St., July 23-27, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. for kids ages 10 and up. Cost is $25. For more info, call 816-6297.

Sahlen’s Sportspark offers several sports camps all summer long at their state-of-the-art facility in Elma:

• Striker & Goalkeeper Camp $199, June 25 – 27, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Ages 7-18.

• Multi-Sport Camp $145.00* (After June 1, 2018 – $160), July 9 – 12, 2018, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Ages 7-13.

• Aaran Lines Soccer School $185* (After June 1, 2018 – $199), July 16 – 18, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Ages 7-17.

• SSP Summer Soccer Camp $185* (After June 1, 2018 – $199), July 23 – 26, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., Ages 7 – 17.

• SSP Champions KIDS Camp – Multi-Sport $85 (After June 1, 2018 – $99), July 30 – Aug. 2, 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., Ages 4-7

• HS Total Performance Camp $175, Aug. 6-9, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Ages 13 – 17. (Register 8 or more on your team for a $50 discount per player.)

• Multi-Sport Camp $145 (after June 1, 2018 – $160), Aug. 13-16, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Ages 7 -13.

• SSP Summer Soccer Camp $185 (After June 1, 2018 – $199), Aug. 20-23, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., Ages 7 – 17.

The University of Buffalo offers soccer camps, run by their coaching staff:

• Bulls Open Camp, June 25-29, July 16-20entering grades 4-11. 06/25/2018 – 06/29/2018 All 4th – 11th

• Junior Bulls Half-Day Camp, June 25-29, July 9-13, July16-20, entering grades pre-k-4.

• Girls Prospect Camp, July 15, girls entering grades 8-12.

• High School Prep Camp, July 23-26, entering grades 7-12

• Shooting, Finishing & Goalkeeper Half-Day Camp, July 23-25, entering grades 4-11.

For those looking for a residential option, many area kids head south to Houghton College, which offers numerous sports-related camps, with overnight or day camp options. Their premier instructional camps for players entering grades 1-12 features individual instruction and specific coaching adapted to age and skill level from expert coaches within atheir safe Christian environment, on the following dates:

• Girls Summer Basketball Camp: June 24-28, (entering grades 4-12)

• Boys Summer Basketball Camp: July 1-5, (entering grades 4-12)

• Summer Volleyball Camp

July 15-19, 2018- Residential and Day Campers (for girls entering grades 7-12)

Summer Tennis Camp

Tennis camp, July 15-19, will include over 32 hours of instruction and match play, including game strategy, singles and doubles patterns, mental toughness, video analysis, and form development. Campers will partake in daily stretching and conditioning along with having their fundamental skills individually addressed.  Houghton College has 12 varsity tennis courts; six outdoor courts as well as 6 indoor courts in the Kerr Pegula Field House.

Thr Rochester Futbol Club hosts their annual overnight soccer camp at Darien Lake, July 9-13, for boys and girls U9-U18. The $525 tuition includes four days of professional soccer tuition, four nights stay at Darien Lakes Lodge on the Lake Hotel, daily bus transportation to and from the Pembroke soccer fields, four fully chaperoned theme park evenings and all meals. Dunkirk Camp and Conference Center offers soccer camps for kids ages U10 to U16 (born 2002-2008), Aug. 5-11. Spend a week playing the game you love.
