Following a 16-1 win in Newfane to open the playoffs last week Tuesday, the SGI softball team lost 15-1 to the Huskies in Olean on Thursday.
On Friday, the girls beat Gowanda 19-17, who they are facing in playoffs this week.
On Monday, the modified girls lacrosse played in a fantastic, nail biting finish against Lakeshore, winning 6-5. Strong defensive performances were led by Sage Nova, Kaleigh Baczkowski, Cassie Adanti and Kiley Nolan, who also scored for the Lady Griffs. Strong midfield was played by Sydney Fuller and Lizzy Clark, while midfield was also a total team effort. Instead of playing 12v12, 10v10 was played to have even numbers with the opposing team. Brooke Kazmierczak scored in the last 10 seconds of regulation play, while also scoring in the third period of sudden death overtime. Kelsey Foltz has her strongest game of the season in net season with roughly 15 saves.
