The Springville Waves Aquatic Team (SWAT) held its annual banquet on March 15 at the Springville High School. Forty-seven swimmers, family members and a proud coaching staff celebrated another successful season of practices at the SGI High School pool and competitive meets at pools around Western New York.
After six months of hour-long practices, offered three nights each week, parents and coaches could notice changes in their student swimmers. Whether they were a brand new SWAT member or returning Golds’ champions, these swimmers were faster, smoother, and most importantly, more confident in the water.
Coaches took turns calling up each swimmer to the podium. There, they talked about individual progress and special characteristics that each athlete brings to the SWAT program.
Signups for next season will take place in October 2018.
Swimmers who participated in the Niagara LSC Short Course Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center on March 8-11 were recognized at the end of the banquet. Carley Delaney, Asa Cerasani, Jr. and Garrett Casey (pictured left) competed in this event, which is referred to as the “Golds.”
