Local Ski Racing: Goetz, Graney and Rauch Walk Away with Gold

The first weekend of U12/10/8 racing kicked off at Holiday Valley in Ellicottville. This first race was a Kombi, which is a blend of two events— Slalom and Giant Slalom. For results at this age level, the reporting will be overall without age breakdowns.

Leading the way was Garret Goetz of Kissing Bridge, winning by 2.09 seconds. Hannes Aubrecht of Buffalo Ski Club took 4th, with teammate Owen Gray finishing 15th. Joey Hogenkamp (KB) placed 17th, Drew Foley (KB) 20th, Gareth Duckham (BSC) 24th, Declan Gradwell (BSC) 27th and Wyatt Van Tine (KB) 29th.

For the girls, Buffalo Ski Club’s Emily Kloc finished 6th and teammate Lillian Rauch took 7th. Abigail Duff of Kissing Bridge placed 17th and Mary Doyle (BSC) finished 18th.

U21/19/16 women traveled to Cortland, NY to compete in two Giant Slaloms. both held at Greek Peak Resort. U16s Abigail Fischer and Katriana Kivari, both of Kissing Bridge, finished 4th and 5th, respectively. Madisyn Delozier (BSC) took 7th, Sydney Miner (KB) 10th, Olivia Shortt (KB) 16th, Julia Patterson (BSC) 17th and Grace Rauch (BSC) 24th. For the U21/19 women, Page Hazen of Kissing Bridge finished 6th and teammate Katie Schlemmer took 10th.

On the men’s side, U21/19 Christian Meyer (BSC) finished 12th, Jack Schleyer (KB) 16th, Daniel Edick (BSC) 19th, Liam Fischer (KB) 28th and Cole Murray (KB) 32nd. U16 Aristotle Ninos of Kissing Bridge took 11th, Joshua Jusiak (BSC) 13th, Montgomery Nicholl (BSC) 33rd, Parker Murray (KB) 34th and Wilson Siudzinski (KB) 35th.

Day Two: Buffalo Ski Club’s U21/19 James Rauch found himself once again on the podium with the gold medal. Christian Meyer (BSC) finished 10th, Brice Shively (KB) 11th, Daniel Edick (BSC) 18th and Liam Fischer (KB) 30th. U16 Joshua Jusiak (BSC) took 4th with teammate Alex Aubrecht in 5th. Aristotle Ninos of Kissing Bridge took 13th, Wilson Siudzinski (KB) 37th and Montgomery Nicholl (BSC) 38th.

For the ladies, Kissing Bridge’s U16 Grace Graney took gold and teammate Abigail Fischer finished 8th. Madisyn Delozier of Buffalo Ski Club placed 9th, Sydney Miner (KB) 10th, Olivia Shortt (KB) 20th, Grace Rauch (BSC) 21st, Jenna Block (KB) 24th and Julia Farrell (BSC) 27th. For U21/19, Page Hazen (KB) finished 7th and Katie Schlemmer (KB) 13th.

The next event is two Super-G’s at Bristol Mountain in Canadaigua, NY for U21/19/16 athletes. U14 athletes will travel to Tully, NY to compete at Song Mountain and Cortland, NY to compete at Greek Peak in a Slalom and Giant Slalom.
