Local Ski Racing: Graney Makes Triumphant Return to Junior Racing

After a season of recovery, Kissing Bridge’s Grace Graney reclaims her powerhouse position in Giant Slalom. At HoliMont on New Year’s Eve 2017, there was a Giant Slalom held, which consisted of two run on the infamous ‘Wild Turkey’ run.

Graney made her return to the podium, finishing with the bronze medal. Teammates Sydney Minier and Abigail Fischer finished 7th and 8th respectively. Kiera Kavcic of Buffalo Ski Club took 9th, Katriana Kivari (KB) 11th, Olivia Shortt (KB) 14th, Grace Rauch (BSC) 17th and Jenna Block (KB) 19th. For the U21/19 women, Page Hazen of Kissing Bridge finished 4th and teammate Katie Schlemmer took 5th.

U21/19 Bryce Shively of Kissing Bridge finished 5th, Jack Schleyer (KB) 8th, Liam Fischer (KB) 12th, Daniel Edick (BSC) 13th and Cole Murray (KB) 17th. For the U16 Men, Joshua Jusiak (BSC) took 6th, Alex Aubrecht (BSC) 8th, Ethan Hallett (BSC) 9th, Aristotle Ninos (KB) 12th, Wilson Siudzinski (KB) 20th and Montgomery Nicholl (BSC) 21st.

The next races will be Empire Cup Slaloms held at Holiday Valley and HoliMont on the 6th and 7th, respectively. If you are around, stop out and check out some great racing! Check out next week’s paper for full results.
