Thursday, December 21, the Springville Boys traveled to Lake Shore for their first away meet of the season.  Overall the Griffins, for the second meet in a row, were able to win a total of 12 out of 13 possible events, leading the way to a final score of 125-41.

Springville’s Medley Relays got the meet started off on the fast track by going first and second.  The A relay composed of Zach Hughey, Blaze Schelble, Jon Boberg, and Elliot Emley, while the B relay was Jimmy Snyder, Justin Buczek, Connor Hughey, and Christian Safford.

Following the 1-2 success of the relays was a sweeping of the 200 Freestyle where Eric Schweickert, Dakota Schelble, and Garrett Casey took the top 3 spots respectively.

In the 200 Yard IM Jon Boberg took 1st place in a solid time of 2:27:36.

In the 50 Freestyle Dominic Hartenstein took 1st place with Elliot close behind for 2nd both with near Class Qualifying times.  Christian was able to come in 4th.

Diving saw Wyatt Fuller take 1st for his 12th consecutive victory spanning to his very first competition, in a new high score of 233.  While Dakota took 2nd with his personal best of 159.07, and Jackson Richert was able to secure points for the Griffins as well.

The 100 Yard Butterfly the Hughey brothers were able to take 1st and 3rd.  Zach swam to first place with Connor taking 3rd.

In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Dominic was able to take 1st place in outstanding fashion by qualifying for Class B Championships.  Jon was able to take 2nd place, and Garrett scored 4th for the Griffins.

For the 500 Freestyle, Felipe was able to take first in an ECIC qualifying time of 6:14:32, while Austin took 2nd in a near ECIC time of 6:38:39.

The 200 Freestyle Relay Team of Dominic, Zach, Elliot, and Jon took first in a time of 1:44:00, while Harley, Justin, Garrett, and Christian took 3rd.

Eric, Connor, and Jimmy were able to sweep the 100 Backstroke and take all three top spots.

For the 100 Breaststroke, Blaze took 1st with a best time of 1:19:90, while Austin came in at 2nd, with Justin also dropping time to take 4th place.

In the final event of the evening, the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Harley, Dakota, Jimmy, and Jackson were able to secure 2nd place and close out the meet with a great swim.

Congratulations to the boys for being 3-0 to close out 2017.  To the 10 athletes already qualified for postseason, congratulations on leading the charge!  For those who don’t have that postseason cut yet, keep going!
