With last week’s opening of Holiday Valley, it’s time to get excited about the upcoming ski season, and for those of you looking for a unique way to celebrate, how about checking out the premiere of a new ski movie? On Saturday, Dec. 2, Dekdebruns presents “This is Home,” a film by The Faction Collective, at Finnerty’s Tap Room.
“We’ve carried Faction Skis for six years,” said Ciara Peters of Dekdebruns. “This is their first year creating a ski movie.”
Owner Greg Dekdebruns added that Faction is promoting a world tour for the film, and offered it to their retail partners. (The film will also be viewed in far off places like Switzerland and Greece the same night as it will be playing in Ellicottville.)
The movie’s tagline is “A journey to find what makes us skiers,” and follows some of Faction’s athletes.
“We looked for a venue to handle the people, and one with a casual atmosphere,” said Dekdebrun of the choice to partner with Finnerty’s for the event.
In addition to the movie, there will be a Chinese auction with lots of prizes from Faction, Dekdebruns and Finnerty’s. With every food or drink purchase, guests will receive tickets for the auction.
Admission to the premiere is free and the event is family-friendly.
The pre-party begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Finnerty’s at 11 Mill Street in Ellicottville, with the movie premiering at 8 p.m.
