Get out of the house and come join in the fun at Allegany State Park’s free, family-friendly 3rd Saturday treks. These hikes will take place on the 3rd Saturday of each month all year long, and are led by park staff, members of the Allegany State Park Friends Group, or Historical Society members and each will focus on a different area of the park.
The upcoming 3rd Saturday Trek will take place on Nov. 18. Participants will explore the area behind the Administration Building and go on a pine cone hunt. Afterwards, come inside to turn your pine cone into a winter bird feeder with peanut butter and bird seeds. Come learn about the different types of conifers and wintering bird habits! Hikers are asked to meet in the lobby of the Administration Building at 1 p.m. and to come dressed for the weather.
Each hike will last approximately two hours. Registration is not required. For more information, visit the Allegany State Park Facebook page or contact Heidi Tschopp at (716) 354-9101 ext. 236 or Heidi.firstname.lastname@example.org.
