Springville Sustainability Initiative is Now Green Springville

The recently formed group Springville Sustainability Initiative has officially changed its name to Green Springville – a Community Sustainability Initiative. “As a group, we wanted the name to reflect the simple vision of a greener community,” said co-founder Reed Braman. “We feel that this new name captures the essence of our mission and are looking forward to working with the community.”

And you may have seen Green Springville out in the community lately.  The group had their first event at the Springville-Griffith Institute Homecoming game.  The Green Springville tent was set up by the food stand where volunteers collected recyclable materials and hosted the “How Long Until It’s Gone?” game.  The group is looking to partner with different organizations in the community to strengthen their recycling programs.

This past Sunday, Green Springville held its first annual Rail Trail Cleanup. A group of volunteers walked the Springville Rail Trail picking up garbage and enjoying the fall weather.

Building on the momentum of recent events, Green Springville will be holding its October meeting on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at 23 Mechanic St. in the Encorus Building.  Anyone interested in attending is welcome.

Green Springville is a non-profit organization dedicated to making Springville a sustainable place to live, work, shop and play.  Green Springville focuses on projects that promote sustainable energy, environmental development, recreational facilities and economic opportunities.
