On your mark, get set, go! The fall race season is just getting started and now’s the time to sign up for three of them just a short drive away in Ellicottville.
On Saturday, Oct. 7, the Annual Fall Festival 5K Run kicks off at 9:30 a.m. from Holiday Valley, when runners take to the local streets on this fun, challenging and climbing finish course. A fun post-race party takes place at the Holiday Valley Mountain Sports Center with light lunch, beverages and great door prizes. The following day, on Oct. 8, the Fall Festival Mountain Bike race takes over the mountain at Holiday Valley. Bikers will navigate the 4.7-mile course with challenging climbs and downhills, combined with amazing single-track sections. Compete for the door-prize pool and awards ceremony, which recognizes the top three finishers in several age groups and classes. On Saturday, Oct. 28, the EVL Halloween Half and 5K makes its return to the village. Running in the EVL Half Marathon will take you on 13.1 miles of beautiful countryside roads. The Half will start at 11 a.m. on Monroe Street. Hoping to run but want to et to that after party sooner? Sign up for the 5K instead. Participants will get the always-awesome custom t-shirt. Of course, this is in celebration of Halloween, so don’t be shy and plan on wearing a costume. Awards by will be given to the best costumes for the following categories: Best Group – Two or more people, Best individual, Funniest, Scariest, Most Girly, Best Kid and Best in Show.
