Romeo and Juliet in Springville Aug. 10

JMS-Cesario-Orsino-Scope

Two star-crossed lovers must find a way to be together, even when their families forbid it.  Bring your family to see Shake on the Lake perform Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy Romeo & Juliet for free in Springville.

Shake on the Lake is a professional theatre company based in Silver Lake, NY.  Since 2012, Shake on the Lake has performed live, outdoor theatre and is known for productions that incorporate physical comedy, improvisation, and music.  For its sixth season, Shake on the Lake is touring Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet throughout Western New York.  The goal is to make Shakespeare approachable for audiences of all levels of Shakespearean knowledge.

This is Shake on the Lake’s second visit to Springville.  Last year, the company performed Twelfth Night for a full house at Springville Center for the Arts.  Due to the rain, the production was held inside.  This year, the company hopes for an outdoor show, weather permitting!

The mission of the festival is to entertain, engage, and enrich those in the community by creating professional theater productions in a natural outdoor setting to inspire audiences to envision new creative placemaking opportunities in their communities. For more information, please visit www.shakeonthelake.org.

Shake on the Lake will present Romeo & Juliet at the SYI Park on South Buffalo Street, Springville with the Carol Mongerson Theater, 37 North Buffalo Street, Springville as the rain location.  This performance will take place on Thursday, Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m.  This event is free and does not require any reservations.  If you have any questions or need more information, please visit Springville Arts.org or call (716) 592-9038.
