Allegany State Park’s Independence Day Celebration July 3

Firework-Map-FINAL--for-July-3

Grab your lawn chairs and head to Allegany State Park’s Quaker Beach area to celebrate our nation’s independence! The fun starts at 2 p.m. on July 3rd with a chicken barbecue (until sold out) by the Coldspring Volunteer Fire Department. At 6 p.m., listen to Allegany’s own Artist in Residence, Darrell Porter. Darrell is a Western New York singer-songwriter with a career that has spanned nearly 30 years. To his credit, he’s received numerous Buffalo Music Awards for solo performances and has released three independent, original albums. Darrell’s set list includes favorites from The Beatles, Jimmy Buffett, Matchbox 20, Dave Matthews, and more.

Darrell will be followed by the Keith James Band. Keith James is an accomplished pop singer/songwriter from Buffalo. His soulful vocals and infectious stage presence have landed him success not only on the local stage, but the national one as well. One of Keith’s most notable feats was appearing on season 6 of NBC’s “The Voice”. Since then, he’s gone on to do special events for the Buffalo Sabres, Bills, and many others in great local and regional venues. Add his talented band to the mix, and you won’t be disappointed!

Capping off this fun-filled night will be a spectacular fireworks display over the waters of Quaker Lake! This year, patrons should plan on adjusting their viewing plans due to a change in the fireworks launch site location. It will be relocated to an area between the Quaker toll booth and the intersection of ASP 3 and Cain Hollow (see map). This is in compliance with Federal regulations restricting the distance fireworks can be launched from the newly established eagle’s nest in the area. The map depicts the best vantage points -both ends of the lake, a couple of areas on each side of the lake, as well as the Quaker Beach area. Patrons planning to view the fireworks at the beach should plan to arrive early as the parking lot has limited capacity and will be closed once it is full. In the spirit of cooperation, attendees are also asked to obey all designated “No Parking” zones. In addition, no drones will be permitted at this event.  Be sure to check the Allegany State Park Facebook page for information. For those who can’t make it to this event, the annual Beach Party will be held on Aug.18. This fun-filled night of music and activities will also include a beautiful fireworks display over Quaker Lake. For more information contact the Quaker Rental office at (716) 354-2182.
