Girls’ Track Season Wrapup

The Springville Girl’s Track and Field team had a strong showing at the Section 6 Track and Field Championship meet held at Strider Field in Jamestown.  Leading the Griffins was Payton Rowe with an outstanding performance in the 400 hurdles.  Payton broke the school record in the finals with a time of 1:05.83 and finished in 3rd place.  The top two competitors advanced to the New York State Championship meet.  Payton also qualified for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles and finished in 6th place overall with a personal best time of 16.18.  Chloe Chamberlin broke the school record in the 200-meter dash on Friday, running a time of 26.48 seconds.

Chloe finished in 9th place overall in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash events.  Sonya Krezmien finished in 5th place in the 3000 meter run and in 7th place in the 1500 meter run.  Hannah Goetz finished in 6th place in the 2000-meter steeplechase and in 9th place in the 3000 meter run.  Lizzy Miranda finished in 16th place in the 800 meter run.

At the end of season party, Payton Rowe was awarded the team’s Track Most Valuable Player award.  MacKenzie Engel won the Field Most Valuable Player award.  Lizzy Miranda won the Most Improved Player and Hannah Goetz won the Griffins Coaches award.
