WNY Dairy/Ag Fest June 2-4

It’s the first weekend in June, which only means one thing to anyone living in Springville—Dairy Fest weekend!

The WNY Dairy/Ag Festival combines arts and crafts, amusement rides, animals, a parade, food, music, contests, classic cars and much more for a weekend of fun in the sun!

This year’s theme is “God Bless Our Farmers.” The festival takes place at SGI High School, at 290 North Buffalo Street, with the parade route and other activities happening all over town.

Don’t miss this Springville tradition, 29 years in the making.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Friday, June 2

7 am – 3 pm. “Drive Your Tractor to High School” Day/FREE Safety Inspections

5 – 11 pm. Kiddie & Teen Rides by American Amusements

5 – 11 pm. Food Court  (large assortment)

5 – 11 pm. Civil War Encampment along back driveway (inside fence) off Eaton St.

5 – 11 pm. NEW- Craft & Trade Shows OPEN FRIDAY

MUSIC TENT – LIVE ENTERTAINMENT to include:

5 – 6 pm. Dark Road Duo

6 – 7 pm. Bob Muhlbauer

7– 8 pm Backwoods Cloggers

8 – 11 pm Famous “Elvis Tribute Artist” Terry Buchwald

9 pm Winners of the 50/50 Drawings announced in the music tent.

Saturday, June 3

9 am – 11 pm Festival Grounds open to the public

10 am 1 1/2 Hour Plus Festival Parade (theme: “God Bless Our Farmers).   Parade announcer locations at  *front porch of the Warner Museum, *at Main & Mechanic Sts. (Judges Stand)  *across from Fiddler’s Green Park.   Parade Grand Marshal is Marty Wendel, owner of Wendel’s Poultry,  Maple and Chicken BBQ Farm in East Concord.

FARM TENT (inside)

9 am – 6 pm Mother/Child Rest Area in FARM TENT, sponsored by Faith Baptist Church – ALSO,

Kids Farm Fun activities including “corn” box and farm toys,

”Name the Calf & Goat” contests

– Lots of FARM ANIMALS (in the farm tent and on the grounds)

– Local Organization Booths – hand outs, presentations including quilt displays & demos

– 1 pm WNY DAIRY OF DISTINCTION AWARDS  (front of tent)

– 1:15pm Meet the Erie County Dairy Princess and Ambassador Candidates followed by the CROWNING of the  2017/2018  Erie County Dairy Princess & her Court.

Free Milk Punch following the crowning.

SATURDAY ONLY – Check out the BUFFALO & ERIE COUNTY’S NEW BOOKMOBILE parked near the FARM TENT noon to 3:30pm only.  It is a new WiFi equipped BOOKMOBILE designed to bring books, eBooks, and fun reading services to the public.  Don’t miss it.

Civil War Encampment.  Experience “military” life during the Civil War Days. Check out their cannon.

CIRCLE BEHIND THE HIGH SCHOOL

Noon, 2 & 4 pm 90 minute Historic TROLLY TOURS (approx. 60 to 65 “history” locations) with tour announcer, around Village of Springville plus Cemetery “War Tours” & Chamber “Butter Churning” event,  etc. – pick up and return near the high school’s back circle.  Tram sponsored by Erie County Fair.

FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA (FFA) activities in main entrance food booth building and nearby areas.

10 am – 7 pm Food stand specials including ice cream.

11:30 am until gone Wendel’s Chicken Barbecue

1:30 pm Ice Cream Eating Contest (prizes). Sign up before 1pm, there are limited spots; ages 5-7, 8-11, 12-15, 16 and up.

BEHIND THE FOOD COURT:

11am – 10:30 pm Kiddie & Teen Amusement rides and Games by American Amusements, ALSO Food Court & Ice Cream Stand from back driveway to Amusement Rides). Picnic tables available.

DOWD ROAD (across from the Springville Elementary School on North St.):

11 am start sign-ups for 11th Annual Horseshoe Tournament, sponsored by Concord Horseshoe Pitching Assoc.

12 – 4 pm 11th  Annual Horseshoe Tournament & winners announced.

COMMUNITY PARK Little League Baseball Tournament, all day.

SOUTH BUFFALO ST. VILLAGE SWIMMING POOL – BASKETBALL PARK – Springville Boys and Girls Club – Saturday afternoon BASKETBALL COMPETITIONS

PUBLIC SKILL CONTESTS:

1:30 pm Ice Cream Eating Contest in front of FFA food stand (sponsor). Sign up before 1pm.

2 pm Pizza Eating Contest in food court, sponsored by Salvatore’s Pizza  (sign ups @ 1pm,  age limits: 7-10, 11-13, 14-17)

*  The Festival Committee is planning on collecting the  PUBLIC’S  FAVORITE RECIPES for a 2018  COOKBOOK publication NEXT YEAR in celebrating our 30th Festival Anniversary.  DEPOSIT your favorite RECIPE(s) with your name on them, in a labeled box near the Music Stage, at this year’s festival.    Collection will be all weekend.
