Earth Day is April 22. Arbor Day is April 28. These are two events that celebrate two things we couldn’t live without!
This year, Allegany State Park combines both these events into one celebration! This family-friendly event takes place on Saturday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Red House Administration building.
The fun kicks off at 10 a.m. with a one- hour guided Treasure/Tree I.D. hike on Red Jacket Trail -this is also our first 3rd Saturday Trek of the 2017 season.
Kids’ activities run from 10 a.m. to noon and will feature Sun Painting –weather permitting. This particular activity will run from 10 to 11 a.m. Bring a t-shirt to paint, or we will have bandanas available for a $1 donation. Sun painted items will be ready to take home around 12:30 p.m. Kids can also paint tree cookies and more!
Rounding out the day will be a guest speaker from 12 to 1 p.m., topic to be determined.
Ongoing during this event, participants can test their skills at Nature Trivia and check out various displays such as composting, and recycling. Event attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch to enjoy in the park.
