If you need an excuse to get out this month, here are three. Springville Health & Fitness, located at 243 West Main Street in Springville, opens its doors to the public for a variety of events in the next few weeks.

Springville Health & Fitness owner Mary Hannon said she is “always looking for new events” to hold in their large second floor space, and that she looks forward to November’s events bringing people in to see their building.

On Saturday, Nov. 5, head to the Wedding Expo and Flea Market, presented by WNY Wedding and Party Supplies, where you’ll find “one stop shopping” for all your party needs.

WNY Wedding and Party Supplies owner Toni Story created these events as “a way to connect people who are getting married (or having a big party) to local vendors” and also as a way for those who have already been through it to sell their wares. At the expo, guests will find everything from photographers, florists, printers, officiants, bakers and more, as well as people selling centerpieces, dresses, pew bows, you name it.

“You can find everything you need in one day,” Story said, explaining that after she went through the process of planning her own wedding, she was overwhelmed at the costs associated with it, and she wanted to help others save money. “I don’t think people should go into their marriage with so much debt from their wedding,” she said.

Buying these goods second-hand helps the going green movement, as well as helps couples save big bucks on their big day.

Anyone planning any kind of big party—graduation, holidays, other special events—is encouraged to attend this unique event, which, Story said, “promotes the mom-and-pop-type vendors and the keeping it local movement.”

$1 admission gets you in, which benefits a local animal rescue.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday only.

The following weekend, on Saturday, Nov. 12, Springville Health & Fitness will host the Springville-Griffith Community Education Foundation (SGCEF) Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction from 6-8 p.m. This year’s major grant recipient is the Boys & Girls Club of Springville in support of their SMART Moves Drug Prevention program.

The SMART Moves program is an international drug resistance program for young people ages 6 to 15 which involves discussion and role playing, practicing resistance and refusal skills, developing assertiveness, strengthening decision-making skills and analyzing media and peer influence.

The money raised at the event will be used to purchase and install eight computers with editing software, as well as a project for presentations. The balance of the money will be used for staffing, training, materials and community outreach, and to hire a program coordinator and three additional staff to run the SMART Moves program.

The Boys & Girls Club of Springville currently serves approximately 500 young people yearly, and that number is continuing to grow.  Their mission is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens in our community.”

Entertainment for the evening includes the Springville Jazz Orchestra and Joe Wagner and Company. A number of well-loved local area restaurants will provide delicious appetizers for the event to be paired with a wide variety of wines for tasting.

“This is a fun event for a worthy cause,” said Hannon.

Tickets for this event are $30 and are available at Springville Health & Fitness at 243 West Main Street, Haddad Agency at 410 Waverly Street and the Springville Area Chamber of Commerce at 23 North Buffalo Street in Springville.

At end the month, Springville Health & Fitness will host their annual Christmas Craft and Vendor Show on Nov. 26 to celebrate the nation-wide Small Business Saturday. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., guests can knock off some great holiday shopping as they stroll numerous vendors in one easy stop.

Vendors selling their goods and services, such as LuLaRoe, will be on-hand, and many will be offering specials. The gym will have a great deal—when you buy a one-year membership, a second year is half off, only available Nov. 25 and 26.

So far, 15 vendors have signed up to be there, but more room is available. If you’re like to be part of the day and sell your wares, contact the gym at 592-5510.
