Learning more about the benefits of solar energy is a topic the Town of Concord Planning Board hopes to get more educated on in the near future.

Board member James D. Jozwiak believes it could be beneficial and asked if anyone from the board talked with Solar Liberty.

“The presentation I went to was pretty good,” Jozwiak said.

According to Jozwiak, Solar Liberty officials could give an idea of the long-term savings from those who switch to solar energy. For example, he said they could give a rough estimate of how much could be saved in a few months after the cost of installation.

Board member Bruce Luno said there is a home on North Otto Road that recently went solar and he would like to see the board hear from Solar Liberty because it is not just homeowners that can benefit.

“A lot of the stuff they are doing is both residential and commercial,” Jozwiak said.

At this time, an exact date for a presentation has yet to be determined.

The planning board will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5 in the basement meeting room at Concord Town Hall, 86 Franklin St., Springville.
