Last weekend the Springville boys varsity swim team took part in the Section Class C Championships, which features all small school teams from Western New York.

Friday night, Feb. 7, Wyatt Fuller earned his third consecutive Class Championship in diving.

Saturday brought swimming finals. Austin Yetter led the way for the Griffs with a second-place finish in the 200 IM while qualifying for sectionals along with taking 6th place in the 100 butterfly.

Zach Hughey took third in the 100 backstroke and has already qualified for sectionals. Blaze Schelble took fourth in the 100 breaststroke also qualifying for sectionals. The 200 relay teams of Hughey, Yetter, Schelble and Elliot Emley took fourth place in both the freestyle and medley relays.

Other top-eight finishers, included Connor Hughey (sixth in the 100 backstroke) and Eric Schweickert (seventh in the 200 freestyle).
Also scoring vital points for the Griffins were Max Boettger and Christian Safford, as the team placed third place overall in Class C.
